Yay! YOUKI International Youth Media Festival has selected Period Stories for their international competition. This is the first foreign film festival that isn't a feminist or women's film festival that has selected Period Stories for screening. This is great because we don't want to just be preaching to the choir. It's also the first foreign festival to include Period Stories in a competition.
We will have a screening on Friday, November 20, 9 am (yes, am!). We're hoping to be able to attend the festival but it happens to coincide with Cameraimage in Poland. Traditionally, Metropolia cinematography and editing students attend Cameraimage during their second school year (which for me would be this semester). I'm looking into hopefully taking a little detour to Austria because as interesting as Cameraimage seems, YOUKI looks like a lot of fun too.
This also means we're gonna have to reinvent our hashtag for #wearefuckinggoingtocroatia to #wearefuckinggoingtocroatiaANDaustria!
(Check out my last post, if you don't know what I'm talking about.)
